Mushrooms

   "I began sculpting faeries.  And although I love them, I always found the process frustrating.   I think the Fae were telling me to do something else-something different.  I listened and sculpted a mushroom.  From that point forward, I was in love.  Mushrooms have always fascinated me. To me, they give us a glimpse of Faerie-something we can physically see, magically appearing overnight, and oftentimes gone the next.  They are a taste (no pun intended) of the Realm.  All of my sculpts are based on actual field guide mushrooms, which I research endlessly in an effort to capture the true nature of the shroom, while adding a little bit of whimsy to each sculpture.  The faces come to me as I sculpt, partially influenced by the mushrooms common name and what guides me.  Some are good, some are a bit wicked, but they all come from my heart."  - Trisha Leigh Shufelt
