Mathew Stewart

Growing up, Matthew Stewart’s inspirations were Celtic and Norse mythology and the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.  He knew early on that fantasy art was something that he couldn't ignore, so it's not surprising he ended up studying illustration in college.

Matthew graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1999 and has been working as an illustrator ever since.  He has exhibited at various galleries including the Society of Illustrators, NY; Arnold and Sheila Aronson Galleries, NY; and Penn State in Altoona, PA.  His work can be seen in a few of the Spectrum annuals, including volumes 10 & 13, and was included in Spectrum's 10-Year Retrospective of the Best in Fantastic Art, which exhibited at the Society of Illustrators in 2005.  Matthew was nominated for a Chesley Award for Excellence in Fantasy Illustration in 2006.

He lives in southern New Jersey with his wife, Gina, who is also an artist.
